French Front Entry Doors
French entry doors are a decorative option, best suited to temperate environments where security and heat retention are less important than providing an elegant entrance for light. French doors can be steel, fiberglass, or wood, and can be delivered primed for painting, staining, or varnishing, depending on material.
French doors, unlike other entry doors, are really "doors" plural: two adjoining doors inlaid with glass that open from the middle. Because glass panes (or lights) cover the majority of the doors, the doors themselves are not typically very secure or insulated. High-performance glazing on the glass, however, sometimes in the form of insulated tempered glass, can help improve insulation.
French doors are undoubtedly beautiful and eye-catching. The question is: how important is that beauty relative to strength and insulation? If the answer is "very important", then French doors are for you!
